CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) — One person was arrested after crashing into a gate at Naval Air Station North Island on Wednesday morning.

The driver pulled up to the main gate at NASNI at about 5:30 a.m. at Third St. and Alameda Blvd., but didn't present the correct identification to enter the base, according to spokesperson Kevin Dixon.

Dixon said the driver kept driving, prompting security to activate a gate barrier. The driver crashed into the barrier, followed by another vehicle behind the driver.

Security arrested the driver. Dixon said it wasn't clear what the person's motive. He later confirmed the driver was not in the military.

No injuries were reported.

Traffic leading up to the base backed up through Coronado, leading to delays over the Coronado Bay Bridge.

All gates were closed after the incident but were reopened at 7:30 p.m.
