EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A second suspect has been arrested after an El Cajon officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle in December.
According to the El Cajon Police Department, David Pangilinan was arrested Sunday.
Police say Pangilinan was the driver of the vehicle involved in the assault on officer Nick Cirello on December 14. During the arrest, authorities say they recovered a loaded gun along with a “large amount of drugs and money.”
Police previously arrested Kaeni Flores, 28. According to El Cajon Police, Flores was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the assault.
Cirello was struck by a vehicle on the 100 block of West Washington Street after officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway with a driver and passenger asleep inside the vehicle. When officers attempted to wake the pair, the driver reportedly provided identification for someone else before starting the vehicle.
When Cirello tried to stop Pangilinan, he was reportedly dragged before being hit by another vehicle traveling past the scene.
