SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several sections of the Coronado Bridge are set to light up this week as part of a lighting project.

According to the Port of San Diego, a small portion of the bridge will light up from April 29 through May 3.

The purpose of the lighting is to test the performance of various different LED lights.

The tests are set to happen at the Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard, located underneath the San Diego side of the bridge, between dusk and 2:30 a.m.

The lighting study is all part of a proposed artist-designed lighting project.

So far, the port has raised about $1 million of the $14 to $16 million the project is expected to cost.
