SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — In a time in our country where the nation and its leadership are divided, it’s rare to find members of the U.S Congress from different sides of the aisle working together for the good of the country.

But Congressman Darrell Issa (D-50th), a Republican, and his colleague Juan Vargas (D-51st), a Democrat, have forged a union that relies on their similarities instead of their political differences.

The two have worked together on border issues that bring business, jobs, and commerce to both the United States and Mexico.

They have also traveled abroad as part of a Congressional delegation representing America.

They met long ago while Issa was a businessman in the car security industry. Vargas, a car enthusiast, says he liked Issa from the start.

The two now head back to Washington to try to help heal the nation and find a bipartisan path forward.

Issa says it’s his job to help President Joe Biden have a successful presidency for the good of the country and our nation’s success in the future. Vargas adds we can get there again because we’re Americans.
