SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 68-year-old woman suffering from a stroke was airlifted from a cruise ship off San Diego Wednesday.
Crew members from the Viking Sun called the Coast Guard Wednesday morning when the ship was about 225 miles south of San Diego.
A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew with a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) Team paramedic on board flew to the ship.
A rescue swimmer from the Jayhawk landed on the ship to assess the situation, and helped the woman into the rescue basket.
The woman was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital in stable condition, Coast Guard officials said.
