CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A man was shot during a carjacking outside of a motel in Chula Vista late Tuesday night.
Chula Vista police said a witness reported hearing a struggle and at least one gunshot outside of the Red Roof Inn on Broadway at around 10:30 p.m.
According to police, a man was in his car at the motel’s parking lot when someone approached the vehicle and tried to open it.
The car’s owner confronted the stranger, and a fight broke out. During the altercation, police said the suspect’s gun went off, striking the victim.
The suspect got into the victim’s car and drove away. A description of the suspect and vehicle were not immediately released.
The victim’s condition is unknown.
