CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) – Police are urging residents to not take matters into their own hands in light of the death of a woman on a popular hiking trail in Carlsbad.

In the days since the Nov. 23 stabbing death of Lisa Thorborg at the Hosp Grove Trail, Carlsbad police said some residents have been on the Nextdoor app encouraging others to visit encampment sites to look for the suspect.

In a Facebook post, the Carlsbad Police Department asked that citizens not get involved and instead report any tips they may have to police.

Police are assuring the community that they are actively investigating Thorborg’s death and searching for the suspect.

So far, a tip involving a man seen in the area around the time of the incident has not panned out.
