DEHESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A vegetation fire burned in the Dehesa area Sunday near the Sycuan Casino, but the blaze did not threaten any structures.
The fire erupted shortly before 6 p.m. along Dehesa Road, near Sloan Canyon Road, according to Cal Fire officials.
By 8:30 p.m., the fire burned at least 50 acres and was 10 percent contained. However, crews were able to stop the fire's forward rate of spread.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, Cal Fire officials said the fire had charred about 150 acres and was considered 80 percent contained.
Cal Fire Capt. Isaac Sanchez said the fire started at the base of the hillside and made its way up the slope. Sanchez noted the dry vegetation and difficult topography as two of the biggest challenges for fire crews.
Three homes were voluntarily evacuated along Dehesa Road, but there were no evacuation warnings issued.
No injuries were reported.
