SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A broken water main damaged a Santee street and flooded at least one nearby business early Friday morning.

At around 3:45 a.m., authorities were called to Prospect Avenue and Cuyamaca Street in response to a water coming out of the roadway.

The water blasted out of the street and flooded an auto repair business. At least six vehicles were partially submerged due to the rising water.

By 4:15 a.m., authorities were able to shut off the water and begin road repairs.

A city official said they believe the overnight temperature change may have caused the water main break.

ABC 10News learned repairs are expected to last throughout the day.

The public is asked to avoid the area of Prospect Avenue and Cuyamaca Street, as lanes have been closed.
