SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Break-ins at two San Diego County optometry stores that happened within an hour of each other Thursday morning are under investigation.
At around 3:45 a.m., police in Escondido responded to reports of a burglary at the LensCrafters store at 1284 Auto Park Way.
When officers arrived, they saw the front windows were shattered and display cases were damaged. The thieves got away with cases full of glasses, frames and lenses, according to police.
At around 5 a.m., EXO Optics in the 7300 block of El Cajon Blvd. in La Mesa was broken into.
Police arrived after the alarm when off, and officers said it appeared that the thieves pried open doors to enter the business and got away with sunglasses designed for sports and recreation.
Authorities have not determined if Thursday’s morning break-ins are linked.
The cases come after Chula Vista police released surveillance video that showed a break-in at a Chula Vista optometrist office.
In the Chula Vista case, which happened in July, police said more than $100,000 worth of merchandise was taken.
