(KGTV) - An artist known for using food to make his art is taking on what he refers to as the biggest project of his life.

Cosimo Cavallaro is building a “cheese wall” about 40 feet from the U.S.-Mexico border in Tecate.

Cavallaro is using expired blocks of cotija cheese to construct a wall that will be 6-feet high, with hopes to make it 25 feet long.

According to Cavallaro’s CheeseWall.com website, his project has received enough donations for 200 blocks of cheese, but it can go to 1,000 feet wide with additional donations.

Cavallaro said he was inspired to build the cheese wall because of the current political climate.

Cavallaro began the project on March 25 and is hoping to complete it by March 28.
