Isaac Makana will turn seven months, seven month, and seven days old on July 1st, so his family wants to celebrate that milestone.

This isn't an ordinary party. Isaac is fighting Tay-Sachs disease, a rare disorder that destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. His parents are holding the celebration on July 1st to not only honor Isaac, but to raise money to find a cure for Tay-Sachs.

His mother, Lorelei Sandoval, told 10News they interpret his communication through his smiles, eye gazes, lip pursing, and head movements.

"We are so happy to have him with us," she told 10News reporter Melissa Mecija. "Such a miracle at 7 years, 7 months, and 7 days old."

The Casino night fundraiser tomorrow is in North Park at 3925 Ohio Street from 1-5 p.m. Tickets range from $52 to $65. To learn more about the event, click on this link.
