A San Marcos woman is getting a new, badly needed roof for her home, thanks to a local company that saw her story on 10News.
"I'm just really grateful that these guys came out to help me," a tearful Tiffany Gipson said.
Last month, 10News interviewed Gipson about the hole in her ceiling that measured about four feet by four feet. She said the problem began seven years ago and her insurance, Allstate, would not cover it.
On Friday morning, Apodaca Roof Services came to fix it all -- free of charge.
"Christmas came early for me," Gipson said. "I never thought I was going to get a new roof."
"It was a big disaster up there. There was a lot of bad wood, areas were just wide open to the weather," said John Apodaca of Apodaca Roof Services. "The roof was really in bad shape."
Apodaca said he wanted to help. He and his crew took out pieces of the bad roof and put in a new one on Friday.
And it's not like he needed the business, as Apodaca said, "We've got a lot of work. We're backed out a couple months."
He felt it was the right thing to do.
"Everything, I'm paying for everything out of my pocket," Apodaca said.
Gipson gave the workers some homemade cupcakes as a small token of her thanks.
It is a big project, costing about $7,000, but one completely free for the family.
"I think they're a great bunch of guys and now they're probably going to be part of my family for saving mine," Gipson said through her tears.
