Posted

A man chased two people with a knife in La Mesa, then was arrested Sunday.

Elijah Rivers, 20, of La Mesa, was to be booked into the San Diego Central Jail on one count of suspicion assault with a deadly weapon, said Sgt. Scott Hildebrand of the La Mesa Police Department.

One of the people Rivers allegedly chased, a male, received minor injuries but it is unclear whether a knife caused those, Hildebrand said. The other victim, a female, was unharmed.

The violence began around 2 p.m., police were called to the 7700 block of Orien Avenue in response to a domestic-related dispute.

Rivers, Hildebrand said, was reported chasing people on the street in front of a residence before he fled.

La Mesa police, assisted by a San Diego Police helicopter and police dog, pursued Rivers to the 4600 block of Date Avenue, where he was caught at 2:28 p.m., Hildebrand said.
