SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man who admitted to secretly filming women at a Kearny Mesa Walmart has been sentenced to 150 days in jail.

Richard Lawrence Shaw, 52, was sentenced to jail time, three years supervised probation, and ordered to register as a sex offender following the voyeur conviction, City Attorney Mara Elliott announced Thursday.

Shaw was arrested on Jan. 30, after a woman using a bathroom stall at the Walmart at 4840 Shawline St. noticed a cell phone under the wall of her stall. Store security was alerted and found Shaw in the adjoining stall.

Police searched Shaw's phone and found videos of at least eight women, including a young girl, using the Walmart bathroom.

On May 8, Shaw pled guilty to nine misdemeanor charges of secretly filming women — one charge for each victim.

"This predator invaded the privacy of women and children in a space where they felt protected and safe. Even worse, he captured his victims on video for his own enjoyment and dissemination," stated Elliott. "We will not tolerate these abuses in our community. Our Office will prosecute sex crimes and similar abuses to the fullest extent of the law."

As terms of his sentencing, Shaw will attend 52 weeks of counseling, wear a GPS monitor, and has been ordered not to contact children, the victims from Walmart, or visit the Walmart location. He's not allowed to possess a camera, or computer without approval.

He has also waived his Fourth Amendment rights so that authorities may search his property without a warrant.
