CalFire San Diego is reporting that crews are battling a several acre brush fire in the San Pasqual Valley, near Ramona.
The fire was first reported sometime before 2 p.m. 17000 block of San Pasqual Valley Road, about two miles east of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Initial reports suggested the fire was three acres but scanner traffic reports up to 40 acres.
There are no reports of structures threatened or evacuation orders.
The fire has shut down State Route 78, just east of San Pasqual Academy.
