ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A car crash in unincorporated Escondido triggered a power outage to nearly 700 customers Saturday.

The crash was reported at 4:08 p.m. on Felicita Road near Via Rancho Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Dispatchers were told an electrical pole was hanging over the roadway. The pole was also reportedly on fire at one point.

At nearly the same time as the crash, San Diego Gas and Electric reported 673 customers in the area lost electrical power.

Electricity was able to be restored to many of those customers relatively quickly, but about 300 people were still without power as of 5:25 p.m., SDGE spokesman Wes Jones said.

Power was estimated to be restored by 7 p.m., according to SDGE.
