Man accused of murder arrested in Old Town

Police have arrested a man for the murder of a man in Old Town late Friday night. 
 
Officers say 38-year-old Johnny Gastelum shot and killed a man after an argument.
 
10News has learned the victim is named Leo. A memorial made of flowers spelling out his name now marks the scene where the murder took place.
 
A friend of the victim told us he was a veteran, having served in the Army as an airborne ranger. He also told us he was living close by at Aspire, a residential treatment facility for military members.
 
Police say both the victim and the suspect live in Old Town. 
 
Police say the shooting is believed to have been over a confrontation that occurred on a sidewalk in the 2200 block of  San Diego Avenue.
 
Officers found the 35-year-old victim unconscious, and suffering from major trauma to his upper body.
 
Despite being treaded by paramedics, the man died on the sidewalk.
 
Gastelum is being held at the Downtown jail. He faces first degree murder charges.
 
He's due to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, December 9.
