SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Before a hot-air balloon made an unplanned landing in the middle of a Ranchos Penasquitos neighborhood Sunday, the balloon took out a glass fence at a house near 4S Ranch.
Homeowner Michael Lomotan told 10News he saw the crash on his Ring camera and couldn’t believe it.
“The basket comes into view and the glass breaks; so basically the basket and the glass breaking and, 'Whoa, what happened?!'” Lotoman said, explaining his reaction.

He said it was about a foot away from hitting his house.
The balloon kept sailing over some mountains before making a landing. The pilot, Ferrel Gray, told 10News the winds shifted and he couldn’t make the normal landing a few miles away.
“It happens occasionally, balloons end up landing safely in a place it typically doesn’t land,” Gray said.
He also admits his first attempt at a safe landing was the field next to Lomotan’s home, but the winds shifted again and made it impossible, so he had to react.
