SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An SUV hit speeds of up to 90 MPH as it led authorities on a pursuit up Interstate 5 from the South Bay, but the driver was eventually arrested after being stopped in Solana Beach.

According to authorities, a man was spotted asleep inside an SUV parked on Broadway, near Palomar Street, in Chula Vista. Police officers made contact with him and obtained his driver's license, but the man -- for unknown reasons -- sped away, prompting a pursuit.

The driver made his way north on I-5, weaving in and out of lanes and reaching speeds up to 90 MPH, before eventually exiting in Solana Beach.

California Highway Patrol officers executed a PIT maneuver to stop the SUV on Stevens Avenue, causing the driver to flee from the vehicle.

He was arrested a short time later.

No injuries were reported during the pursuit.
