SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two men suspected of stealing a pickup truck were arrested early Monday morning following a high-speed pursuit from the North County into the South Bay.

Authorities told 10News a truck was stolen from Encinitas late Sunday night, and a friend of the vehicle's owner spotted it on southbound Interstate 5 and called 911.

California Highway Patrol officers caught up to the truck on southbound I-805 and tried to pull it over on El Cajon Boulevard, but the vehicle sped away.

The truck reached speeds of up to 90 mph as it made its way south before running over a spike strip at Palm Avenue.

With damage to one of its tires, the truck struck the center divider on southbound I-805 at SR-905 in Otay Mesa.

The two men got out of the truck, ran across the freeway into an apartment complex and tried to hide in a garage. However, officers captured them a short time later without incident.
