EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A group that works to help refugee families received a significant donation this week.
The group called "Helping El Cajon Refugees" received nearly 500 toys from Mattel and 500 quilts from Quilts Beyond Borders.
It comes after they discovered their storage unit broken into on May 12. Thieves stole many of their donated items and destroyed the rest.
The group also raised close to $5,000 on their GoFundMe Page. They used that money to buy more toys and supplies.
The group is donating the toys and quilts to families for Eid, a religious holiday in which children receive gifts. Eid follows the end of Ramadan.
The group delivered the toys and quilts Friday night and will make more deliveries Saturday.
