SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - At least three buildings on the San Diego State University campus were evacuated Friday morning after a gas leak was reported near the school.
Just before 9:30 a.m., school officials tweeted: “SDSU Alert - @SDSUPD is responding to a gas leak on campus. Police and Fire are evacuating the Communications Building, Hardy Tower and PSFA. Please calmly exit if you are in any of these buildings. Follow emergency responder instructions. Call 911 for emergencies.”
Nearly 15 minutes later, school officials said the gas leak was "shut down." The leak "was caused by construction in the area," school officials tweeted.
At 10 a.m., school officials said affected buildings were cleared and deemed safe by fire department personnel.
