A construction crew struck a gas line in University City Friday morning, causing gas to spew and forcing occupants in an office building to shelter in place.
The incident happened in the 4300 block of La Jolla Village Drive, near Genesee Avenue, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman.
Firefighters responded to the gas leak, and an SDG&E spokesperson said utility crews were working on fixing the break.
No injuries were immediately reported.
