SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego Couple is stepping up to support our veterans.
Steve and Barbara Spiva started the Stephen and Barbara Foundation with their son in 2001 to support military service members and their families.
Steve is a 20-year-old Navy veteran and his son is a West Point graduate and former Black Hawk pilot.
“We were looking for opportunities to help our military because they needed it,” Steve said.
WATCH: 10News Honor Flight special
In recent weeks, Barbara saw a 10News special about Honor Flight San Diego. The organization sends World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. free of charge.
Each trip costs the organization roughly $250,000.
“I watched it, and I taped it and said, ‘Steve come in here, we have to do this,'” said Barbara.
On Monday, they presented a check for $100,000 to Honor Flight San Diego.
