Former NFL player Kellen Winslow Jr. heads to court for preliminary hearing in 2003 rape case

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The former NFL player accused of raping a 17-year-old girl while she was unconscious has been bound over for trial. 

The preliminary hearing is over a 2003 incident in which Winslow Jr. is accused of raping the teen while she was unconscious.

Winslow Jr. was 19 years old at the time of the alleged incident, prosecutors said. He pleaded not guilty in the case.

In July, the 34-year-old Winslow Jr. was ordered to stand trial in a separate case in which he is accused in the rape and kidnapping of two women -- a 59-year-old and a 54-year-old -- in Encinitas.

The son for former Chargers legend Kellen Winslow pleaded not guilty in that case.

Winslow Jr. faces life in prison if convicted in the case.
