(KGTV) - Did only one person actually sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776?

Yes.

Despite the grand image we've been shown, only John Hancock signed the document on July 4, 1776.

Most of the other delegates didn't sign it until August 2nd.

But even that wasn't the end.

When copies were printed with what was believed to be all the signatures in 1777, Thomas McKean's name was left off.

It wasn't added to the document until around 1781.
