(KGTV) - Did the recent heat wave in California get so bad that it actually cooked mussels in their shells?
Sadly, yes.
A research coordinator at Bodega Marine Reserve took a picture of mussels frying to death along the shoreline.
The researcher said she saw tens of thousands of dead mussels that had cooked in their shells at a field site north of San Francisco.
Northern California saw triple digit temperatures in June.
