ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - North County Toys "R" Us employees gathered to say goodbye to the toy company Friday.
Employees of the Escondido Toys "R" Us at 1240 S. Auto Park Way said farewell to the store, as the company shut down its final 200 stores Friday.
Patience Fuller, an employee of the store, said the team is "like a family." The team gathered whatever tables were left in the store and held a final meal together — Geoffrey The Giraffe seated appropriately at the head of the table.

The team will split up now, some heading to other retail stores, others taking time to figure it out. Some of the managers were unable to find another job and will be on unemployment.
But the store's closing isn't the end for the family. They say they plan to get together again Sunday for tacos, though likely without Geoffrey this time.
