ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - Escondido firefighters engineered a makeshift sling to save a horse stuck at the bottom of a ravine Thursday.
The fire department got a call about the horse stuck near Via Conejo near Lake Hodges in South Escondido about 4:30 p.m.
Firefighters said the horse was on its side and could not stand due to rocks and steep terrain.
A veterinarian and a San Diego Animals Services officer helped firefighters improvise a sling and bring the horse to level ground.
The horse was able to walk back to its corral unharmed.
No one was injured in the process of saving the animal.
