POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - A pickup truck plunged down a ravine off state Route 67 in the Poway area Tuesday night, killing the driver, sheriff’s officials said.
The crash happened at around 7:15 p.m. in the 15400 block of SR-67, near Mina de Oro Road, according to San Diego County sheriff’s officials.
Investigators believe the driver somehow lost control of his Toyota Tundra truck along a curve in the roadway on the southbound side of SR-67.
The truck took out a street sign, plowed through bushes and rolled over down an embankment before landing upside down.
A woman told 10News she heard the crash behind her home.
“I was right in my kitchen making dinner and I heard a crash that wasn’t stopping. It crashed at least three or four times,” the woman said.
The unidentified male driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff’s officials.
The crash remains under investigation.
