RANCHO PENASQUITOS – A suspected drunken driver lost control and smashed into the front yard of a Carmel Mountain home overnight Wednesday.
According to San Diego police, at around midnight a driver lost control of his car on Andorra Way, smashed through a stop sign and careened through a front yard before crashing into a 1984 Oldsmobile that was parked in a driveway in the 15000 block of Madrigal Street.
The man was not hurt. He lashed out when San Diego police arrested him at the scene on suspected drunken driving charges.
The emotional owner of the damaged Oldsmobile told 10News it used to belong to her mother-in-law and has great sentimental value to her.
Meanwhile, crews replaced the damaged stop sign with a temporary one until a permanent one can be installed.
