Driver attacks CHP officer, flees

SAN DIEGO -- A man remains on the loose after allegedly attacking a California Highway Patrol officer following a traffic stop in Logan Heights. 
 
Sometime before 7:30 a.m., a CHP officer attempted to pull over a vehicle that was driving erratically in the area of 30th Street and Island Avenue. 
 
At some point during the traffic stop, the driver got in a scuffle with the officer then ran. San Diego police and San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded and began to search the area. 
 
The officer suffered minor cuts and bruises, but no serious injuries. 
 
As of 8:30 a.m., authorities were still searching for the man. 
 
San Diego police said he is wanted on several existing warrants. His name was not released.
