SAN DIEGO - Trolley service through downtown was disrupted Tuesday, after a power line fell on top of a trolley.
Metropolitan Transit System officials warned downtown travelers of delays, after service between City College Station and Santa Fe Depot (the entire C Street corridor) was suspended following reports of a downed power line on a trolley near West C St. and Front St., MTS public relations specialist Mark Olson said.
Service was restored by 9:45 p.m. Crews originally estimated service to be restored at 7 p.m.

Video of the incident captured on Instagram by a witness shows riders exiting the trolley as live wires hang overhead across the top of the trolley.

Travelers that need MTS service were advised to take the following routes around the scene:
- Take Rapid 215, Rapid 235 or Route 992 buses from either City College or America Plaza stations.
- Take the Green Line to 12th and Imperial for connections heading east on the Orange Line toward El Cajon or south on the UC San Diego Blue Line.

The cause of the incident is being investigated.
