DEL MAR (KGTV) — The Del Mar Fairgrounds has decided to temporarily end their contract for the Crossroads of the West gun show after 30 years.

The state-run 22nd District Agricultural Association board, which operates the fairgrounds, voted 8-1 not to renew the show and not to hold any other gun shows after December 2018.

Del Mar is scheduled to hold its final gun show of this year in December.

Supporters for and against the Crossroads gun show packed the meeting room at Del Mar to argue whether or not the show should remain.

New shows could return eventually, but not until the fairground adopts a series of reforms, including age appropriateness and enhanced safety plans.

The board has until December 2019 to develop new policies surrounding gun shows at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
