SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--You can't always get what you want, the Rolling Stones famously said. That goes for Americans hoping for basic healthcare coverage and now, apparently, for House Republicans who have finally agreed to make changes to their Trumpcare bill.
Repeal and replace? Well, maybe just modify a bit
--House Speaker Paul Ryan said Republican leadership are currently reworking the American Health Care Actto give states more flexibility under Medicaid and to help older Americans afford coverage on the individual market.
They're looking at giving states the option of requiring able-bodied Medicaid recipients to work, a provision Republicans have long wanted.
The full House is expected to vote on the bill Thursday.
Still no evidence of Trump Tower spying
--Two top lawmakers who sit on the House intelligence committee announced Sunday that documents the Justice Department and FBI sent them last week show no evidence the Obama administration had wiretapped Trump Tower.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) did however claim the material offers evidence that American citizens colluded with Russians to interfere in the presidential election, according to the Associated Press.
"There was circumstantial evidence of collusion; this is direct evidence, I think, of deception," Schiff said. "There's certainly enough for us to conduct an investigation."
Committee chair Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said "for the first time the American people, and all the political parties now, are paying attention to the threat that Russia poses."
More unexpected White House "visitors"
--Even though President Donald Trump is spending the weekend away at Mar-a-Lago working, obviously, he had a late night visitor to the White House Saturday night.
A man stopped his vehicle at a checkpoint and claimed to have a bomb in his car. Authorities did not confirm whether or not there was an actual bomb in the car, according to CNN.
Earlier in the day, a man was arrested after jumping over a White House bicycle rack.
