SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Jury selection started Monday in the civil lawsuit involving a former San Diego Mayor’s wife’s claims that a fall ruptured her breast implants.

Cynthia Hedgecock, wife of Roger Hedgecock, sued the City of San Diego after she tripped over a crack in a public sidewalk in Pacific Beach.

Court documents indicated a tree caused part of the sidewalk to rise on Morrell St. at Grand Ave.

Hedgecock said the fall damaged her breast implants, causing silicone to leak into her bloodstream.

Roger Hedgecock was part of the lawsuit, saying he suffered "the loss of support, service, love, companionship, society, affection, relations and solace from his wife.”

Hedgecock served as San Diego's mayor in the 1980's.
