LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- Police officers in riot gear were called in to monitor an event for slain rapper XXXTentacion on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles Tuesday night.

The Rapper was shot and killed Monday while reportedly shopping for motorcycles in South Florida.
More than 300 crowded the area on Melrose - even climbing on an ABC affiliate's news van.

Around 9:30 p.m., many people ran through the street and split off into two groups on either side of the road that was blocked off by police, according to ABC7 LA.
