VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A bizarre discovery on a Vista road has led one man on a quest to find its rightful owners.
James Rufino says he was driving near the intersection of Melrose Dr. and Bobier Dr. when he spotted a cooler on the side of the road.
Inside he found two boxes of cremated remains, both dated 2016.
One box has "Diesel M." inscribed on it; the other has a tag listing the deceased as June Seaman.
Rufino says he feels like it's his responsibility to bring the remains back to each family.
"Just so they can get back to their loved one," said Rufino. "If I lost something like this I hope they would return it to me."
The Sheriff's Department says you can report found property through the non-emergency line.
