Couple whose home burned down finds out rooster survived Lilac Fire

A couple tearfully expressed their joy Friday after finding out their rooster survived the Lilac Fire that has so far scorched thousands of acres. 

The couple saw video for the first time of their home in rubble, burned to the ground after the Lilac Fire tore through North County.

In tears, the couple expressed joy that their rooster miraculously managed to survive.

“But then I thought that there are people who are way worse off than us," said Mike Houlsizer.

So far, the Lilac Fire has burned 4,100 acres as strong Santa Ana winds tore through the county.
