CHULA VISTA — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of severely beating two women with a baseball bat during a bar fight in October.

A fist fight broke out at the On The Rocks bar on E Street near Woodlawn Avenue on October 15 but the suspect police are searching for took an aluminum bat to the heads of two women, one of whom still requires rehabilitation as a result of her injuries.

Chula Vista Police Lt. Fritz Reber said the suspect apparently struck the victims during a brawl involving several other people.

"The first female victim had no idea what was coming and he viciously swings the bat at the back of her head; easily could have killed her; gave her a serious wound to the back of her head requiring stitches," Reber said.

He said another woman tried to defend her friend.

"Looked like he feigned like he was going to strike her in the leg and when she went down to protect herself there, he hit her in the head," he added.

One woman required surgical sutures as a result of a laceration to the back of her head. The other woman suffered a fractured skull and orbital bone causing debilitating injuries.

The man is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25-35 years old with a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck and his right forearm.
