Car thief escapes after wild crash with hearse

Police are still searching for the man behind Wednesday afternoon chaos in downtown. They say a man driving a stolen silver Mercedes slammed into the back of a green Subaru and then hit a hearse from the haunted hotel.

The driver of the Mercedes then took off, leaving the mess behind him. But he didn't get away before he was caught on camera, by the driver of the hearse.

Police did arrest one man at the scene - who had nothing to do with the crash. He was arrested for looting the stolen Mercedes after the accident happened.

Officers had to restrain him to a stretcher and put a spit bag over his head so he wouldn't spit on them.

"This is all messed up, and somebody else's windshield is laying over here," said Adam Ryckman, the owner of the hearse.

The hearse was a gift to Ryckman from the Haunted hotel, for 10 years of service.

"I look over and there's a dude coming from this direction down the sidewalk," Ryckman said. "And other people yelling, 'that's him, that's the guy right there!'"

When he saw the driver run away he chased him with his phone out - reminding him that he had just smashed into the hearse.

Ryckman tried to get his info but the man only replied: "I'm just so f****** dizzy right now."

Seconds later, he was gone.

If you know anything about the suspected driver of the Mercedes, call police.
