Kearny Mesa - A van caught fire near a Chevron gas station early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Shawline Street and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
The fire department frantically put the fire out before the gas station could catch fire, and evacuated the scene.
Authorities removed the gas attendant and the driver of the vehicle was not at the scene when police arrived.
