ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- An Escondido man who nearly lost his home during the Witch Fire of 2007 is taking extra precautions this fire season.
He recently purchased a fire retardant product called Thermo-Gel. It's designed to be sprayed onto a home when a fire is approaching.
Several California fire departments, as well as the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection use the gel.
A kit of four bottles costs about $385. There is also another similar product called Barricade that consumers can purchase.
