SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two brothers on their way to work early Wednesday morning crashed into a barrier on Interstate 15, causing them to be thrown into their car’s windshield.

10News learned the two men were traveling on northbound I-15 near Interstate 8 when their Kia Soul slammed into a barrier.

One brother told 10News they were on their way to Arizona for work when their GPS told them to head west, but then instructed them to go east. The man said his brother became confused and they ended up crashing into the barrier.

The impact sent both of them, who were not wearing seatbelts, into the Soul’s windshield. They were not ejected from the vehicle.

The driver suffered serious injuries, but his brother was able to walk away with scrapes.

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the possibility the crash was DUI-related.
