VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A North County child was hospitalized following a near-drowning incident Wednesday.
San Diego Sheriff's (SDSO) deputies responded to the call at about 2 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Meadowlake Drive.
The child, identified as a boy under the age of 10, was brought to Tri-City Hospital for care. The boy's condition is unknown, according to SDSO.
No further information was immediately available.
The County of San Diego recommends that children always swim under the supervision of a parent or guardian and never swim alone. The county also recommends:
- Enroll non-swimmers in swimming lessons taught by a qualified instructor. Pediatricians recommend that children ages 5 and older learn how to swim.
- Knowing how to swim does not make a child drown-proof. Flotation devices are not a substitute for supervision.
- Learn and practice the basic lifesaving techniques, including First Aid and CPR.
- Keep poolside rescue equipment close to the pool area.
