LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - A bomb squad and hazardous materials team were summoned to a La Jolla home Wednesday after suspicious items that appeared to be a pipe bomb were found inside.
San Diego police told 10News officers were at a home in the 1600 block of Via Corona at 9 a.m. to assist the FBI as they executed a search warrant.
FBI officials in San Diego said that “agents located items that were consistent with those of a potential pipe bomb” during their search of the home, prompting FBI bomb technicians to remove the suspicious materials.
The FBI confirmed that no other explosives were found, but an investigation was launched.
Details on the warrant were not made available.
The FBI confirmed San Diego County hazmat, San Diego Fire-Rescue, the ATF and San Diego police with two bomb dogs assisted in the operation.
No injuries were reported.
