SAN DIEGO - A hit-and-run collision at a City Heights intersection left a bicyclist seriously injured Friday.

The 32-year-old man was riding to the south on Fairmount Avenue when he failed to yield for a red light at Home Avenue and was struck by a blue 2009 or 2010 Toyota Corolla shortly after 6 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The motorist kept driving and left the area, Officer Frank Cali said.

Medics took the bicyclist to a hospital for treatment of a significant lower-leg injury.

The driver remained unidentified and at large as of early afternoon.

The suspect car left a part behind.
