CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Shoppers at Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center will be able to grab groceries while at the mall in the near future.
Barons Market, a grocery chain known for organic produce and specialty foods, is slated to take over the DSW Shoes location at the mall on Birch Road by November 2019.
At about 21,000 square feet, the new Chula Vista location will be one of the grocer's larger stores.
Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing for Barons Market, told 10News the company is excited by the move to the South Bay.
“Eastlake has always been on our radar. It’s such a booming area with new homes and communities. There’s so much growth,” Shemirani said. “We like that community feel, which is what Eastlake has.”
According to Shemirani, Barons Market will be a neighborhood market that will bring “good, clean food that’s well priced for breakfast, lunch and dinner” to Chula Vista.
In addition to local organic, natural foods, and competitive prices, Shemirani said shoppers can expect options such as a salad bar and a hot food bar that will be new for Barons Markets.
Eight weeks prior to the targeted November 2019 opening, Barons Market expects to hold a job fair for positions at the new location.
Barons Market has four other San Diego County locations: Alpine, North Park, Point Loma and Rancho Bernardo.
