CARLSBAD, Calif. - Authorities reached out to the public Friday in hopes of tracking down the owners of stolen possessions recovered from a suspected thief last week at a North County motel.
Investigators following up on a vehicle-theft case last Friday found the property -- including such unique items as medals, antique photos and an urn containing the ashes of a dog -- at the lodge in the 3600 block of Pio Pico Drive in Carlsbad, according to police.
There, officers arrested 44-year-old John Childers Fuller, who was staying at the motel under an assumed name. He was booked into county jail on suspicion of stealing the car and the other items, which were believed to have been taken in various parts of the county. Fuller also has been charged with identity theft in the case.
Photos of the stolen property can be viewed above. Those who recognize their missing possessions or need further information are asked to call Detective Adam Young at (760) 931-2143.
